Report: Capitals seeking winger to play with Ovechkin, Backstrom
This might be the most attractive "Help Wanted" sign in the NHL.
The Washington Capitals, intent on making a serious run at the Stanley Cup, are believed to be chasing a winger to play on the club's top line, according to Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet:
... it's well-known (the Capitals) are chasing a forward to play with Nicklas Backstrom and Alexander Ovechkin. Ovechkin's flexibility allows them to search for the best possible addition, whether a right- or left-handed shot.
It's a pretty plum gig, considering Ovechkin leads the NHL in goals (38) and Backstrom ranks second in total points (63).
The right side of this line is being held down by rookie Andre Burakovsky, meaning there's clear room for an upgrade.
Whoever's brought in to fill the spot, they'll be well-positioned for success down the stretch.
