The David Clarkson-for-Nathan Horton trade rocked the Internet on Thursday evening.
The immovable contract was moved, and Hockey Twitter had a field day with it. Check out some of the best - and most informative - reactions, which had Clarkson's name in the same sentence as Wayne Gretzky's for likely the first and last time.
Forget Wayne Gretzky. The new saying should be If David Clarkson can be traded, anyone can be traded.

"The Leafs traded Clarkson" is the new "Anything is possible"

Was getting tired of "if Gretzky can be traded, anybody can be traded". Now it reads, "if Clarkson can be traded......."

True story: got a Score alert about the Clarkson trade, but my phone locked up. Had to restart. EVEN A PHONE WAS SHOCKED.

Trying to picture the look on Nonis's face when the Jackets called with that offer. How much time did he spend looking for hidden cameras?

So #Leafs give guy laughable contract, then have to trade him for a guy who can't play and that's considered good general managing?

The Leafs just bought salary cap space, and all it cost was the team's one truly dependable renewable resource

Dave Nonis signed Clarkson to such a bad contract that he could only be traded for a guy who will never play hockey again. @MLSEPR @mlse

So essentially this is Toronto buying out David Clarkson without it counting against their cap.

I'd like to congratulate the Toronto Maple Leafs on their massive wallet and the way it perpetually gets them out of trouble.

Put me down for Clarkson getting 20 next year. #CBJ #Leafs
