Ryan Spooner's first NHL goal came at the perfect time for the Boston Bruins.
Spooner found the net in his 35th career appearance for Boston, scoring on a rush to lift the Bruins over the New Jersey Devils in overtime. The 23-year-old took a pass from fellow rookie David Pastrnak and fired it past Cory Schneider 2:46 into the extra period.
The victory strengthened Boston's hold on the final Eastern Conference wild card spot. The Bruins have a four-point lead over the Florida Panthers as well as a six-point advantage and a game in hand over the Philadelphia Flyers.
