Blackhawks trade Ben Smith, draft pick to Sharks for Andrew Desjardins

The Chicago Blackhawks continue to be active prior to the trade deadline.
Forward Ben Smith - along with a 2017 seventh-round pick - has been traded to the San Jose Sharks in exchange for Andrew Desjardins, the Blackhawks announced Monday.
Smith, 26, who has five goals and four assists in 61 games, is coming off a career year in 2014-15 with 14 goals and 26 points. He remains under contract through next season at a cap hit of $1.5 million.
Desjardins, 28, has three goals and three assists in 56 games.
Pierre LeBrun further reports the Sharks retain 50 percent of Desjardins' $750,000 salary.
