Sergei Belski / USA TODAY Sports
The Pittsburgh Penguins have scratched forward Steve Downie ahead of Friday's game versus the Anaheim Ducks.
Downie has played up and down the Penguins lineup in a relatively effective capacity, but has seen his ice time squeezed by new roster additions and the team's improving health.
He has 11 goals, 24 points and leads the NHL with 191 penalty minutes.
