Getzlaf on Ducks' performance: 'We're pretending'
The Anaheim Ducks have not looked like the top team in the Western Conference in their last two contests, allowing a combined 12 goals in losses to the New York Rangers and Columbus Blue Jackets.
Captain Ryan Getzlaf realizes his team is playing poorly and sounded off after Tuesday's defeat.
"What we're doing and the way we're playing right now is not acceptable," Getzlaf told reporters. "We're going to change that. Internally. Within our locker room, we're going to change it."
When asked why he thought the Ducks were playing as poorly as they were, he said, “We're pretending."
"We're not playing hockey to our best abilities," Getzlaf added. "We have guys, including myself, including everyone in this locker room that need to be more accountable to each other and what we're doing."
The Ducks are 5-5 over their last 10 games and are set to square off against the Boston Bruins on Thursday.
