Shattenkirk continues his list of NHL's elite defensemen
On Monday, St. Louis Blues defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk wrote for The Player's Tribune listing his elite D-Men in the NHL, naming players such as Drew Doughty, Shea Weber and Ryan Suter.
He continued his story by adding the best offensive defensemen in the league on Tuesday.
Similarly to his first piece, his choices are obvious ones with P.K. Subban, Erik Karlsson, Kris Letang and Alex Pietrangelo on the list, but his breakdown of each player based on his own personal experiences playing against them makes for a great read.
The assessment of his teammate Pietrangelo is fantastic and really gives you a true insider's view of the game.
"If there's one guy in the world I'd pick to come out clean with the puck and make a breakout pass up the ice, it's Petro," Shattenkirk wrote. "Is there a fancy advanced stat for that yet? If not, we need to make one. Wins From Scrums. His WFS percentage would be like 80%."
Shattenkirk promises more after the postseason is completed and asks fans to send him a tweet with their recommendations for the top blueliners.
