Crosby strikes twice as Penguins even series with Rangers
Sidney Crosby scored twice as the Pittsburgh Penguins survived the New York Rangers and a parade to the penalty box, using a three-goal outburst in the second period to even their first-round series at a game apiece.
Star Performer: Crosby had two, but Brandon Sutter was a force in specialty teams. He erased Derek Stepan's first-period goal with a power-play marker and helped the Penguins kill six of the seven minors taken in the contest.
Turning Point: They run on his reservoir, so Crosby's first of the series was obviously a gigantic moment. His tap-in tally gave the Penguins their first lead of the series, and a clear lift in the contest.
Goalie Comparison: Marc-Andre Fleury had help from his shot blockers, but he stood quite tall under siege. He did give up a late one to Rick Nash, though, who would be better off still pressing if you're the Penguins.
Top Highlight: The Rangers' quick-strike attack was on full display late in the first on Stepan's tally.
Stat of the Night: The Rangers are now a ridiculous 1-10 in their last 11 Game 2's, as pointed out by NHL.com's John Kreiser.
