The first goal of the Stanley Cup playoffs was a softie.
New York Islanders forward Brock Nelson opened the scoring in Game 1 against the Washington Capitals on Wednesday by beating goaltender Braden Holtby with a weak glove-side wrist shot.

For what it's worth, the Islanders benefited about sixty percent of the time when scoring the first goal of the game.

The Capitals answered late in the period, tying the game on a goal by Marcus Johansson with 57 seconds left in the frame.
