The Montreal Canadiens and the Ottawa Senators combined for six goals in an explosive second period during Wednesday's contest.
The outburst began with a pair of goals 15 seconds apart by Canadiens forwards Torrey Mitchell and Tomas Plekanec. Mitchell scored on a wraparound at 7:53 to get Montreal on the scoreboard and Plekanec gave the Canadiens the lead with a shot from the left faceoff circle at 8:08.
Montreal enters the third period with a 4-3 advantage.
