The Minnesota Wild selected Joel Eriksson EK with the 20th pick in the 2015 NHL Draft.
2014-15 Stats:
Team | GP | Goals | Assists | Points | PIM |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Farjestad J20 | 25 | 21 | 11 | 32 | 20 |
Farjestad | 34 | 4 | 2 | 6 | 4 |
Overview:
Eriksson can do it all offensively, but his shot is what catches the eyes of most. He is a shoot-first center, but with 21 goals in 25 games, that doesn't seem to be a problem.
The 18-year-old also has good size at 6-foot-2 and is solid defensively, making him a great all-around player. Going forward, Eriksson can benefit from more consistent play and added size, allowing him to create more offensive chances.
What the scouts are saying:
"He is a very competitive, powerful center with great speed, a good strong shot, and excellent puck-handling," NHL director of European scouting Goran Stubb said. "He is creative on the offense while reliable on defense. Likes to go to the net to create scoring chances."
