The Toronto Maple Leafs not only missed out on the first overall pick in this year's draft, but it also looks like they missed out on their first choice for the team's new general manager.
Before taking on the role as Edmonton Oilers president and GM, the Maple Leafs reached out to Peter Chiarelli, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.
In the meantime, it now looks as though the Leafs may have interest in former Washington Capitals GM George McPhee and Arizona Coyotes assistant GM Sean Burke.
Both McPhee and Burke are in Europe for the IIHF World Championship and it is believed Maple Leafs president Brendan Shanahan will also be in attendance.
