What's Up Tonight in the NHL: Focus shifts East as Rangers, Canadiens look to rebound

Eric Bolte / USA TODAY Sports

The Eastern Conference semifinals will be on full display Wednesday as the Tampa Bay Lightning and Washington Capitals aim to secure commanding leads in their respective second-round series.

Game Time
Montreal @ Tampa Bay 7:00 p.m. E.T.
NY Rangers @ Washington 7:30 p.m. E.T.

Here's what you need to know before the puck drops:

Can Price rebound against hot Lightning?

Carey Price allowed six goals in a lopsided Game 2 loss, and will need to return to his previously dominant form in order to help the Montreal Canadiens avoid a deep 3-0 series hole.

If the opening round is any indication, he should be well up to the task. Price and the Canadiens lost 5-1 in Game 5 against the Ottawa Senators, only to bounce back with a shutout win to seal the series in six games.

It won't be easy, however, as the Lightning offense appeared to have returned to its top-ranked ways in Game 2, including Steven Stamkos' first of the playoffs.

"Paging Nash and St. Louis"

Entering Game 3 in Washington, the New York Rangers have as many wins against the Capitals as playoff goals scored by Martin St. Louis and Rick Nash combined.

That would be one.

Another loss would send the defending Eastern Conference champions home facing a Friday elimination game, with questions lingering over Nash's playoff performance once again after he scored only three goals in 25 games last year.

Who blinks first: Holtby or Lundqvist?

The Rangers-Capitals series has featured world-class goaltending, and the series could come down to who falls flat first.

New York can't fault Henrik Lundqvist for the 2-1 series hole, and will need to figure out how to beat Braden Holtby before it's too late.
