Canes' Francis willing to part with 5th overall pick in draft
This year's draft might be a deep one and for that reason the Carolina Hurricanes might shop the team's first-round pick.
General Manager Ron Francis told reporters Thursday that there is a chance that the Hurricanes could "slide down a bit" in the draft. The team currently holds the fifth overall selection and in a deep draft, many teams could come knocking.
Francis insisted that a move could be made if the right move is on the table for the team, which could be a strong possibility.
Surprisingly Francis doesn't see his team making a deal to move higher in the draft, but with generational players projected to go one and two in Connor McDavid and Jack Eichel, it isn't likely many teams with top picks are willing to trade down.
The 2015 draft takes place June 26 and 27.
