He hasn't been on the job for long, but Peter Chiarelli is putting in the work.
The new Edmonton Oilers general manager took over April 24 and is already trying to nail down the team's new head coach.
Chiarelli traveled to the Czech Republic this week to speak to with Todd McLellan about the Oilers' gig, reports Terry Jones of the Edmonton Sun. McLellan is currently coaching Canada at the World Championship.
The San Jose Sharks parted ways with head coach Todd McLellan after another disappointing Sharks season, and it looks like he might be on the Oilers' list for their coaching job.
There's no word on how the negotiations went. Chiarelli is keeping busy, now heading to Scottsdale, Ariz. to sit in on scouting meetings.
