Ladd, Getzlaf, Toews named finalists for Mark Messier Leadership Award
The finalists for the Mark Messier NHL Leadership Award have been announced.
Winnipeg Jets forward Andrew Ladd, Anaheim Ducks forward Ryan Getzlaf and Chicago Blackhawks forward Jonathan Toews will compete for the award that recognizes an individual as a superior leader within their sport, and as a contributing member of society.
All three captains led their respective teams to the postseason with strong offensive contributions.
Ladd, 29, potted 24 goals and added 38 assists in 81 regular-season games, but was quiet in the playoffs, earning a single assist.
The 29-year-old Getzlaf has had another fantastic season, recording 70 points in 77 games, while also contributing another 10 points in six playoff games thus far.
Toews, 27, recorded 66 points in 81 regular-season games for the Blackhawks and has contributed another nine points in this year's postseason.
