The Washington Capitals were forced to wave goodbye to an apparent goal late in the second period of Game 5.
After finally managing to get the puck behind Henrik Lundqvist, the referee quickly waved off the Capitals' breakthrough goal due to goaltender interference.
The scoring chance was created by Alex Ovechkin, but Joel Ward was deemed to have bumped Lundqvist and impeded his ability to make the save, although Derek Stepan also seemed to play a role in the affair.

No penalty was called on Ward, and the play was not reviewed by the officials.
