Report: Sharks sign Finnish star Donskoi after impressive World Championship
The San Jose Sharks have reportedly signed Finnish forward Joonas Donskoi following a solid showing at the World Hockey Championship in the Czech Republic.
The Sharks signed the 23-year-old to a two-year contract worth $925,000 per season, Finnish publication Ilta-Sanomat reported Monday.
Donskoi registered five goals - including three game-winners - along with three assists in eight games for Finland at the tournament.
The NHL's official website published a player profile page listing him as a member of the Sharks that was live on Monday afternoon.
Donskoi scored 19 goals and added 30 assists in 58 games with Karpat of the Finnish SM-liiga. He was named playoff MVP after racking up 22 points in 19 postseason contests.
He was a fourth-round draft pick of the Florida Panthers in 2010, but did not sign at the time.
