Nick Foligno named Blue Jackets' captain for next season

The Columbus Blue Jackets named Foligno the sixth captain in franchise history at a news conference Wednesday.

He received the honor after a breakout 2014-15 season in which he totaled career highs in goals (31) and points (73).
Foligno will be the first player to wear the badge since Rick Nash was traded to the New York Rangers in 2012.
Rob Mixer of the Blue Jackets reported that alternate captains will be decided at a later date.
