There's always next year.
After a heartbreaking loss on home ice in Game 7 extinguished any hopes of capturing the Stanley Cup this season, New York Rangers goaltender Henrik Lundqvist is already thinking about next spring.
"It was awesome to play at home ... Hopefully we can take the last final step next year," Lundqvist told reporters Monday.
"My goal is to always win," he added. "It's something I dream about and we'll work hard this summer to come back and win next year."
The Rangers fell one game short of making the final after posting the best record in the NHL during the regular season. The team also came up short last season, losing the Stanley Cup Final 4-1 to the Los Angeles Kings.
