Blackhawks' Sharp: 'I take responsibility and I apologized' for penalties that led to game-winner
It may be a team game, but forward Patrick Sharp shouldered the blame for the Chicago Blackhawks' loss in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final.
The Tampa Bay Lightning scored the game-winner on a power-play goal by Jason Garrison midway through the third period while Sharp sat in the box for high-sticking - his second penalty in just over two minutes.
"It's frustrating to take two quick penalties like that," Sharp told reporters.
"I don't think I've ever done that before, but it happened. Move on from it. I take responsibility and I apologized to our penalty-killers for putting them under such stress."
Sharp has had a disappointing playoffs, with just four goals in 19 games. He's gone 12 games without a goal, last scoring in Game 2 of the team's second-round series against the Minnesota Wild.
