Erik Cole will not be back with the Detroit Red Wings next season.
The veteran forward will not be re-signed by the club, general manager Ken Holland told reporters Tuesday.
Cole was shut down late in the season after being diagnosed with a spinal cord contusion.
He registered six points in 11 games with Detroit after a trade from the Dallas Stars on March 1. The 36-year-old scored 18 goals and added 15 assists in 57 contests prior to the deal.
Cole is a pending unrestricted free agent who carried a cap hit of about $1 million in 2014-15.
