Benn Ferriero signs with Austrian team EC Red Bull Salzburg
Benn Ferriero will make his presence known in Europe for the first time.
The seventh-round pick of the Phoenix Coyotes in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft has signed with EC Red Bull Salzburg of the Austrian Hockey League.
"I feel like the big ice will let me use my speed and skills even more than I was able to in North America," Ferriero told the team's official website. "Also I felt it was the right time because there was a team interested in me who I wanted to play for. Red Bull is one of the best organizations, and Salzburg seems like a great place to live."
Ferriero, 28, accumulated 23 points in 98 games in his NHL career.
He spent the 2014-15 season with the Chicago Wolves - the AHL affiliate of the St. Louis Blues - and tallied two goals and five assists in 39 games.
