Report: Penguins interested in Blackhawks' Saad; Sutter could be on trading block
While Chicago Blackhawks forward Brandon Saad continues to battle for a Stanley Cup, team executives may be discussing his future behind closed doors.
Saad, who will become a restricted free agent this summer, has interest from the Pittsburgh Penguins, ESPN's Pierre LeBrun reported on TSN's Insider Trading segment.
LeBrun noted that the Blackhawks are up towards the salary cap limit and could have teams courting the forward with offer sheets. Saad is also a Pittsburgh-native, suggesting there could be motivation on his part to play close to home.
With that said, LeBrun pointed out that the Blackhawks are also keen on keeping Saad, so he might not be going anywhere.
Also out of Pittsburgh, TSN's Bob McKenzie reported that forward Brandon Sutter could be on the trading block in an attempt by the Penguins to acquire a top-six forward.
Sutter is an unrestricted free agent at the end of next season.
