Predators GM interested in signing Craig Smith, Colin Wilson long term

Nashville Predators general manager David Poile isn't interested in breaking up too much of the band.

With a number of decisions on the horizon, Poile cleared some things up on Friday with Adam Vingan of The Tennessean - including news that the organization is interested in signing forwards Craig Smith and Colin Wilson long term.

"That's what we've talked about with both agents," Poile said. "Four years, something like that, probably makes sense. I can't crystal-ball what's going to happen. What I want, what they want, it could be two different things, but as we're starting out, that's what we're working towards."

Smith played in all 82 games for Nashville last season, earning 23 goals and 21 assists, while Wilson had the best season of his career potting 20 goals to go along with 22 assists.

Along with the talks of potentially going long term with the pair, Vingan also noted that the Predators will be parting ways with a group of players.

Of the six unrestricted free agents currently on Nashville's roster, the team intends to part with four of them: forwards Matt Cullen and Mike Santorelli and defensemen Cody Franson and Anton Volchenkov.

Nashville finished second in the Central division in 2014-15 with 104 points. They were eliminated by the Chicago Blackhawks in the first round of the postseason.
