Report: Maple Leafs price Tyler Bozak at a 2nd-round pick
Can a second-round draft pick fetch a second-line center? Or at least a player paid like one?
The Toronto Maple Leafs are believed to have set the asking price on Tyler Bozak at a second-round draft selection, reports Sportsnet's Damien Cox.
Bozak posted a career-high 23 goals and matched his best mark for points with 49, but still suffered through one of his worst professional seasons as he was further exposed at the defensive end.
He's locked in at $4.2 million per season for three more years, which is a reasonable price for teams who believe he can contribute in a top-six role. But buyer beware, Bozak has yet to break the 50-point plateau - a mark some believe is the threshold for good second-line contributors - centering an elite, top-line sniper in Phil Kessel for the bulk of the last six seasons.
Toronto, meanwhile, continues to shop talent in an effort to stockpile picks and prospects ahead of its rebuild, gauging prices on commodities.
