Minnesota Wild netminder Devan Dubnyk won the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy for perseverance and dedication to hockey at the NHL Awards in Las Vegas on Wednesday night.
Dubnyk ended last season in the AHL and signed a one-year deal with the Arizona Coyotes worth less than $1 million without much hope of finding a starting job, but he played his way into trade conversations and was eventually dealt to the Minnesota Wild, where his perseverance and dedication paid off.
Dubnyk made 38 straight starts for the Wild, guiding them to a playoff spot and earning a Vezina Trophy nomination as the league's top goaltender in the process.
