Peter Chiarelli is getting defensive.
The Edmonton Oilers general manager has his eye on shoring up his team's blue line in free agency, and has contacted representatives for Cody Franson, Andrej Sekera, and Mike Green, according to Pierre LeBrun of ESPN.
Chiarelli already addressed the goaltending position with the acquisition of Cam Talbot at the NHL Draft, but there's clearly room for improvement in the back end for a club that ranked 30th in goals allowed this past season.
These three defensemen are some of the best available in free agency this summer, and the Oilers would do well to reel one in.
