Oilers' McDavid on draft night: 'The anticipation was killing me'

Connor McDavid was the consensus top selection heading into the 2015 NHL Draft, but that did little to calm his nerves on draft night.
The Edmonton Oilers pick couldn't help feeling anxious as he waited to hear his name called, as he explained during a radio appearance Tuesday.
"I was just more anxious. I mean, it's a moment that you've been waiting for for 18 years now," McDavid told TSN Radio 1050. "The build-up towards it is huge and the anticipation was killing me. I just wanted to finally hear my name called and be drafted into the NHL."
The Oilers surprised nobody by taking McDavid first overall, and he responded in kind with some dazzling displays during Edmonton's prospect development camp.
