Former Coyotes exec Sean Burke mulling another job; could decide 'in the next week'

Sean Burke has a decision to make.

The former Arizona Coyotes executive and goaltending coach is considering a position with another NHL team.

"The role I would be taking on is something I really would enjoy," Burke told Craig Morgan of FOX Sports Arizona on Wednesday. "There's not a lot of questions left about it. It's just a matter of getting it ironed out. If it is the right fit, it will probably happen in the next week."

The Coyotes gave Burke permission to speak with other teams in March. The Toronto Maple Leafs were granted permission to talk to Burke in April.

His contract with Arizona expired June 30, and he opted not to renew in hopes of finding another opportunity with an expanded role in management.

The 48-year-old former netminder said he has turned down two offers from teams that required him to take on a dual role that resembled the responsibilities he held with the Coyotes.

Burke said he has no plans to take an extended hiatus, nor is he considering accepting a job just to continue working.

"I wouldn't take a year off. To me, there's no real need to, but at this stage of my career I don't think I would just want to do anything just to work."
