Ducks sign Josh Manson to 2-year deal worth a reported $1.65 million

The Anaheim Ducks have kept a promising young defenseman on their roster through the 2017-18 season, signing Josh Manson to a two-year extension.

He will earn $1.65 million through the life of the one-way deal, per various reports. The contract will kick in at the end of next season.

Manson impressed enough in his 28 games last season, where he chipped in with three points and 31 penalty minutes.

The former 160th-overall selection will make $925,000 when contributing at the NHL level this year, which is actually more than the average annual value attached to his fully guaranteed extension.

He will likely start the season in the American Hockey League, though, with the acquisition of Kevin Bieksa rounding out the Ducks' top six.
