NHLPA files grievance on behalf of Mike Richards, contesting termination of contract
The NHL Players Association has filed a grievance for free-agent forward Mike Richards, contesting the termination of his contract by the Los Angeles Kings.
The timing of the grievance has not been determined, but the NHLPA has requested an expedited hearing, Sportsnet's Chris Johnston reports.
The Kings terminated Richards' contract in June, citing a material breach of the agreement's requirements.
The 30-year-old was reportedly involved in an investigation by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, but he has not been charged.
Richards is an unrestricted free agent.
