Sabres' Josh Gorges says past, last season 'is not to be talked about any more'
The skeletons located in the Buffalo Sabres' closet will remain right where they are.
Veteran defenseman and key member of the team's leadership core, Josh Gorges, says last year's ghastly and otherwise contentious last-place finish in the overall standings won't be brooded over any longer.
"Whatever's happened in the past is not to be talked about any more," Gorges told Dave Stubbs of the Montreal Gazette. "It's only looking ahead at what we have in front of us and that's a great way to look at things."
Ahead for Gorges and the Sabres is a massive, but exciting learning curve. Management brought in three potential superstars in Ryan O'Reilly, Evander Kane, and Jack Eichel, as well as a rock star coach to spearhead their revival in Dan Bylsma.
"I've talked to Dan (Bylsma) a couple of times," Gorges said. "It's exciting when you have a Cup-winning coach. He's had a year off coaching and got to take a step back and really evaluate what the game is like today, watch it from a different perspective.
"As a player, that's exciting to be a part of."
