Hurricanes add Eric Tulsky to front office as hockey analyst
The Carolina Hurricanes are officially playing the numbers game.
The team has named Eric Tulsky to the position of hockey analyst, where he'll provide and analyze data in service of the hockey operations department and coaching staff, general manager Ron Francis announced Thursday.
"Eric is an extremely intelligent person and has been an innovator in the field of advanced analytics," said Francis. "We found the information he provided last season to be extremely valuable and are glad that he will be with us on a full-time basis."
Tulsky's been publishing his statistical analysis of hockey on various websites since 2011, including Broadstreet Hockey and NHLNumbers.com. He worked for the Hurricanes on a part-time basis in 2014-15.
Carolina joins a growing number of NHL teams that have added this kind of position to their front offices.
