Flyers' Simmonds hopeful he can hit 30-goal mark in 2016
Philadelphia Flyers forward Wayne Simmonds has a career year in his sights.
Simmonds led the Flyers with 28 goals last season and after hitting the 29-goal mark in 2014, he has a new benchmark in mind for 2016.
"Thirty is a definite goal for me,” Simmonds told Chris Lomon of Yahoo Sports. "I’ve come close a couple of times. As long as we’re winning games and making the playoffs, I really don’t care how many I get."
Besides his personal accolades, Simmonds believes the Flyers are in a position to bounce back next season after a poor 12th-place finish in the Eastern Conference last season.
"We’re a good team right now," said Simmonds. "We played really well against the good teams and we somehow faltered against the teams that had around the same amount of points as us or were below us in the standings. We just have (to) work out our inconsistencies and we’ll be fine."
