Report: Maple Leafs bringing in Glencross on tryout deal
The Toronto Maple Leafs are bringing Curtis Glencross to training camp on a professional tryout contract, according to Sportsnet 590 The Fan's Andrew Walker.
Glencross, 32, had 13 goals and 22 assists last season in 71 games split between the Calgary Flames and Washington Capitals, who added him at the trade deadline.
The left-winger is coming off a four-year, $10.2-million deal with the Flames that he recently said he regretted.
Glencross believes he's got a few more years left in him, and said in late August that he's looking for an opportunity to play.
"I have a young family, and it's tough to bounce around on a PTO - it has to be a good opportunity, too, so I can do well and get an extension."
The veteran of 507 games appears to believe that opportunity is in Toronto with the rebuilding Maple Leafs.
