Salming was a three-time All-Star defenseman who helped pave the way for other European players in the NHL. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1996, and the Maple Leafs raised his No. 21 jersey to the Air Canada Centre rafters in 2006.

Sundin notched 564 goals and 1,349 points in 1,346 career regular-season games, serving as the Leafs' captain for 11 seasons from 1997-98 to 2007-08. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2012, the same year his No. 13 jersey was honored by the club.

Team president Brendan Shanahan announced Thursday that the statues would be unveiled during Saturday's fan festival, eliciting an incredible reaction from Sundin.
