Report: Quebec, Las Vegas expansion groups to present at NHL board of governors meeting
The two groups hoping to land NHL expansion franchises will make their argument to league executives later this month, according to TSN's Pierre LeBrun.
Quebecor, which is hoping to bring back the Quebec Nordiques, and Bill Foley, the owner spearheading the movement to bring a team to Las Vegas, will reportedly make formal presentations to league executives at the board of governors meeting on Sept. 29.
LeBrun described what can be expected at the meetings on TSN's Insider Trading segment:
It's a chance for Quebecor and for Bill Foley, Las Vegas and Quebec City, to give their formal presentation to the executive committee, the small group of owners to say, 'Here's why we should have a team.' Then in that large discussion with the owners.
Though the presentation would be the next step in the expansion process, LeBrun believes a final decision on the prospective franchises likely won't come until December.
