The Chicago Blackhawks are reportedly on the verge of signing defenseman Brent Seabrook to a long-term contract extension, Chris Kuc of the Chicago Tribune reports.
Seabrook confirmed earlier Thursday he has talked to general manager Stan Bowman about signing a new contract.
The blue-liner is entering the final season of the five-year, $29-million contract signed in February 2011.
The 30-year-old was also reportedly named an alternate captain for the 2015-16 season on Thursday.
Seabrook, drafted 14th overall in 2003, has spent his entire 10-year career with the Blackhawks, winning the Stanley Cup in 2010, 2013, and 2015.
