VIDEO: Blues' Backes tosses near-perfect 1st pitch at Cardinals game
St. Louis Blues captain David Backes might have a future as a two-sport athlete.
Backes threw out the ceremonial first pitch before the St. Louis Cardinals game against the Cincinnati Reds at Busch Stadium on Monday night, painting the corner with a near-perfect toss.
Teammate Alex Pietrangelo captured the video evidence:

Backes joked afterwards that he was hoping to make an impression on Cardinals manager Mike Matheny.
Backes on first pitch: "I was hoping Matheny was watching. He was looking at his lineup card so I don't think baseball is in my future."
