Flyers assign Shayne Gostisbehere to Lehigh Valley

Shayne Gostisbehere will start the season with the Flyers' AHL affiliate, reports Tim Panaccio of CSN Philadelphia.

Analysis:

Apparently his three goals this preseason weren't enough to convince general manager Ron Hextall to keep him on the NHL roster.

This move has less to do with Gostisbehere's talent, and more to do with business. The Flyers' have eight defensemen on one-way contracts, and Gostisbehere is not even a year removed from an ACL tear.
