Blackhawks sign Seabrook to 8-year contract extension worth reported $55M
The Chicago Blackhawks have signed defenseman Brent Seabrook to an eight-year contract extension, the team announced Saturday.
The deal will pay Seabrook $55 million, or $6.875 million per season, according to ESPN's Pierre LeBrun.
The contract will kick in at the start of next season and will extend to the 2023-24 season. The 30-year-old is in the last year of his current five-year, $29-million contract.

Seabrook is coming off his 10th season with the Blackhawks after being drafted 14th overall by the club in 2003.
He had eight goals and 31 points in 82 regular-season games and added seven goals and 11 points in 23 postseason games en route to his third Stanley Cup with the franchise.
