Panthers name Hal Gill Manager of Player Development

The Florida Panthers have named former NHL defenseman Hal Gill their manager of player development, the team announced Friday.

Gill will work alongside the club's newly-hired director of player development, Bryan McCabe - also an ex-Panthers blueliner - in assessing the progress of the club's prospects.

"We are very pleased to welcome Hal to our organization," said general manager Dale Tallon. "We are honored to have someone with his level of hockey experience work with our prospects and assist them in developing their young careers."

Gill played 1,108 career games with the Boston Bruins, Toronto Maple Leafs, Pittsburgh Penguins, Montreal Canadiens, Nashville Predators, and Philadelphia Flyers, putting up 36 goals and 184 points. He won a Stanley Cup with the Penguins in 2009.
