Chara (upper-body injury) won't play in Friday's preseason finale against the Caps, the Boston Herald reports.
Analysis:
Beyond that, Chara remains in the day-to-day category, with his status for this coming Thursday's regular season opener against the Jets yet to be determined. On the plus side, Chara skated on his own for the fourth consecutive day Thursday, but the report suggests that he's not doing much shooting at this stage, nor is the big blueliner inclined to rush into action. "You always try to come back as fast as you can and as fit as you can," Chara noted Thursday. "At this point right now, obviously my goal is to be back but at the same time I'm not trying to put myself in position of risk or where you're going to have some setbacks."
