Penguins release Gonchar from tryout deal

The Pittsburgh Penguins have released veteran defenseman Sergei Gonchar from his professional tryout contract.
The 41-year-old was signed to the PTO in August.
Gonchar played 48 games for the Montreal Canadiens and Dallas Stars last season, scoring one goal and adding 13 assists.
The 20-year veteran has 811 points in 1,301 career games with the Washington Capitals, Boston Bruins, Penguins, Ottawa Senators, Stars, and Canadiens.
