The Calgary Flames have acquired Dougie Hamilton's brother, Freddie, from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for a conditional seventh-round draft selection, the Flames announced Sunday.
Freddie is a former fifth-round draft selection of the San Jose Sharks. He spent two-and-a-half seasons with the organization before being dealt to the Avalanche mid-season last year.
He has one goal in 29 total NHL starts, 17 of which came at the end of last season in Colorado.
Freddie will report to the Stockton Heat of the American Hockey League.
Brother Dougie was brought to Calgary this past summer in a blockbuster deal with the Boston Bruins, and he signed a six-year, $34.5-million extension a few days thereafter.
