Daniel Briere working with Flyers' management in unofficial capacity
Daniel Briere wasted no time figuring out his next step.
The recently-retired forward was present at the Philadelphia Flyers' morning skate Monday, and revealed he's easing his way into a front-office position with the club.
"I'm unofficially back working in management," Briere told Randy Miller of NJ.com. "I'll be doing a variety of things working with (team president Paul Holgmren). I'll be learning the ropes. I think it'll be fun."
Briere, who announced his retirement in August, had reportedly been in talks with the Flyers about a job as recently as late September. He's expected to attend most of the team's home games, including Monday's home opener against the Florida Panthers.
Briere spent six seasons with the Flyers as a player, scoring 124 goals and adding 159 assists in 364 regular-season games in Philadelphia, and helped the franchise reach the 2010 Stanley Cup Final.
His retirement will be honored by the Flyers on Oct. 27.
