After missing Tuesday night's game for what was originally deemed personal reasons, Washington Capitals star Alex Ovechkin confirmed Wednesday he was actually benched by head coach Barry Trotz.
The star sniper said he missed Tuesday's 5-0 loss to the San Jose Sharks because he overslept for the morning skate.
Ovechkin recorded one goal and one assist in his only game this season, and is expected to return to the lineup on Thursday night against the Chicago Blackhawks.
