Dallas Stars defenseman Jason Demers has been suspended two games for his elbow on Pittsburgh Penguins forward Nick Bonino on Thursday night.
Demers delivered the elbow while shielding the puck from a forechecking Bonino late in the third period of the Stars' 4-1 victory. The 27-year-old received a game misconduct for the hit, warranting a hearing with the NHL's Department of Player Safety on Friday.

Penguins coach Mike Johnston told reporters that Bonino was cleared for full practice, and the forward said that although his face was sore, there was "no lingering stuff."
It is the first suspension of Demers' NHL career.
