Washington Capitals defenseman John Carlson's skate inadvertently caught Edmonton Oilers forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins on the side of the head in the first period of Friday night's game.
Nugent-Hopkins was attended to on the way to the dressing room after appearing to get cut, according to Derek Van Diest of the Edmonton Sun.
The Oilers forward returned in the second period.
